[The Doctor is looking off screen for a moment, mumbling.]

No, no, they shouldn't be here. They can't even get the sort of-

[He suddenly realizes that the device is recording.]

Oh, hello there! This is the Doctor, speaking. Not the doctor of anything, just the Doctor. Anyways, even with the lights out you might or might not have noticed some statues out and about, they may even seem like they're moving, or following you.

That's because they are. Those aren't statues, they're life forms from the beginning of the universe. Or just about. Really, really old either way. They have a defense mechanism called quantum-locking. Basically, when they're observed, they're stone. Brilliant, really, because you can't kill a stone. But the moment you look away or even blink, they're free to move. And they do move. Very, very quickly.

Whatever you do, don't let them touch you. They don't kill you, but they send you back in time to before you were born. You live out your life there and when you die, they feed off the energy of the life you potentially had in your time. Really, sort of the nicest murderers in the whole universe.

Anyways, the point is, you can't let them touch you, so you or someone else has to be observing them the entire time to keep them from moving. Your only hope to stop them is to trick them into looking at each other, which is really tricky because they cover their eyes when they're statues just for that very reason.

[The Doctor's expression gets very serious as he leans into the camera.]

In summary: Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast, faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good luck.

[ooc: I know I'm on hiatus but since this curse is from his canon, I had to post.]

I had a beard! For a day I had a big, bushy, brilliant, mountain man beard. Never had a beard before. Maybe one day I'll be ginger and have a beard.

Also, visited the library. I love that place, very cheeky though, but in a playful way. The Clock was brilliant too, all sorts of running and monsters and massive machines from advanced beings. It almost feels like home. Welll, not really, but a little bit.

I understand that in the past, October has been a particularly hard month, especially several years ago. I don't know if it's going to be bad again this year, I don't think anyone does, maybe not even the deities.

What I do know is that even in a place like this, there's hope. On my world we had something called The Great Moral Dialectic. It states that the Moral Universe refines itself towards goodness just as the physical Universes keeps expanding. Reality leads to complexity, which leads to life, which leads to civilization, which leads to ethics. This leads to the Ultimate superiority of Good over Evil.

Sometimes, it's a long process. Very long. But even in a place like this, it holds true. The longer people are together, the more bonds are forged, the more we understand each other, and the more we want to help each other.

97th Adventure

Time is a very, very strange thing. People think of it like a straight line and if you go back and change things a new line branches off. All that nonsense about there being an infinite number of realities that are based on the different choices that people make is just rubbish. Sure there are alternate realities but not an infinite number.

Things happen a certain way. Welllll, most things. Some things you can change and really, it doesn't make that big of a difference. Sort of like those Special Editions of Star Wars. Suuuuuure if Greedo shoots first it changes the character of Han Solo a bit but the overall story doesn't change.

Things in the universe, things in Time, are like that. Some things have to happen a certain way so that everything else can happen. That's why tampering with Time is so dangerous unless you know what's supposed to happen and what isn't.

So, let me ask you all a question. This is a good place for asking questions, isn't it? Big, big, 'why are were here?' questions or little 'what's the best way to...?' type questions. Sort of like a wikipedia that you have to wait on answers for. Love wikipedia, brilliant idea, all those people coming together and sharing knowledge. Get lost forever on that thing. My favorite page is the one about archaeoacoustics (yes, it's possible) and infinite monkey theorem (not true, by the way). That last one is just fun to say.

Who are you? I mean, who are you really? What is it that defines you? I'm not talking about your name or your race (unless you're like me and you're name and race define you) but how do you see yourself?

93rd Adventure

Dreams are weird things. Are they just your brain sorting and trying to make sense of the day's information during REM sleep or something more? The scientific explanation is sort of boring and unimaginative. People seem to dream about things that frighten them or wish they could have.

A lot of psychiatrist say that dreams reveal hidden desires or needs. Did anybody learn anything about themselves from the last curse that they didn't know before? Obviously we all learned things about other people but that's sort of personal.

[Private to Rose/Unhackable]

Did you remember?

[/Private to Rose]

I understand you're all going to be on the TARDIS when we go visit the Major and get Jack back.

[/Private]

You're all fantastic students and you'll do amazing on your finals. Wellll, most of you will do amazing. Alright, some of you will.

Remember, if you have an A in my class, you didn't have to take the final. Also, if you participated in the reenactment battle last week witht he proper amount of hours, you didn't have to take the final. For all the rest of you, the open book, open note, take home final that I gave you last week is due today by 5 PM.

Also, there's a lot of girls that seem to not have dates for the dance yet. That's very sad, I hope that all of you are making the most of this opportunity.

[ooc: That eccentric teacher that does zany class projects and take home tests yet still manages to get you to learn?
Ohhhh, I love me a good revolution against an oppressive regime. Seen a lot of revolutions. Some good, some bad, but all of them very, very inspiring. Wellll, except for the Custard Guild Revolution of Betelgeuse, but that hardly counts.

Of course, lots of things to consider in a place like this. Even if you overthrow the deities, what if you can't get back home? Anyone ever wonder where all the food comes from? All sorts of beef and chicken but no farms around here. All sorts of electricity and water and plumbing in general but no public works companies. What happens if you're successful and that all stops? What if you're trapped here without any of that? Just what are you willing to sacrifice to be free?

Very weird set of curses for the month, don’t you think? People falling in love, using horrible pick up lines… well, mostly horrible pick up lines, some were rather brilliant, people reliving moments… all very interesting.

On my home planet we obviously didn’t have Valentine’s Day, since we never had a Saint Valentine. Welll, never had a saint anything, really…

But I love the idea of a holiday devoted to love. Suuuure you can argue that it’s all about the card, flower, and chocolate companies but the idea of a day devoted to love is just brilliant.

Love is so amazing. It’s like nothing else. It can make you act crazy or rational or any number of ways. Ohhhh, but most of all it makes you feel alive. Love of the unknown, love of discovery, love of being right, love of someone else, they all make you feel like your existence is validated. Even if you don’t have anyone to buy chocolates or flowers or whatever for, just make sure you take a day to celebrate what you love.

[Private to Romana/Unhackable]

Romana, some man came to the TARDIS and dropped off your shirt!

[/Private to Romana]

[The singing starts out faint but quickly grows louder until you can tell that it's definitely someone in high spirits and possibly a little bit tipsy.]

Good King Wenceslas looked out, on the Feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about, deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night, tho' the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight, gath'ring winter fuel.

"Hither, page and stand by...

What's this? I was just...

Ohhhhh, looks like I'm back here again! Hello, City! How is everyone? Good I hope. Oh look, it's already New Years!

Happy New Year everyone!

[ooc: And the Doctor is back from his very short canon update.]

Ohhhh, drank a bit too much eggnog last night. Is it Christmas already? Ohhh, looks like it's Christmas already and then some.

And I'm still in the City?

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. Didn't expect to still be here, really. Thought I'd be heading out for.. wellll... something. Didn't even get anyone any presents. Haven't had to get anyone presents for years now, always some sort of invasion or something or leaving the City.

This is going to be awkwa-

[ooc: The Doctor has left the City for a canon update, he'll be back in a couple of days. The TARDIS is still there, he's just gone.]

And it's time for the ball!

Ohhhh, everything looks so brilliant. The ballroom is all lit up and the band is ready. And the food is absolutely fantastic!

The guests are arriving! Come on now, you're all welcome! Enjoy yourself!

[ooc: Post is open for any logging anyone wants to do. Basically you'll enter into the TARDIS right into the ballroom. A herald will announce who you are and you can go dance/mingle/eat/whatever you want.]

82nd Adventure

No more zombies!

Wellll, at least no more than we had before this all started.

Always feels good when you can say that. Not a lot of things in the world you can say that bring relief like, "No more zombies."

Sorry to any of you that got imprisoned in the TARDIS. Only not really sorry, since it was necessary. It was an interesting way to make new friends though. Hello Anita and Holly!

Also, we're still going to have the:

FORMAL, WINTER BALL!

in the TARDIS! So make sure you've got your date all set up and your clothes ready. Hope to see you all there!

81st Adventure

Ohhh, zombies are never pleasant. Not only do they smell and look awful, but they used to be your friends and your family. It's demoralizing, a psychological warfare almost as much as a physical one.

If anyone is looking for refuge, you can come to the TARDIS. It's the blue police box northeast of the center of the City. It's much bigger on the inside and nothing gets in that I don't want in. Wellll, that's not let in from the inside, really. But I don't think anyone will let a zombie in.

If you're infected and want to be kept safe from others, we've got a place for you too. Not quite as ritzy as the rest, but you'll be safe from yourself and others.

Martha, Jack, Reinette, how are you all doing?

And did you see, Rose is back!

80th Adventure; Filtered From Known Evil Types

Ohh, the changing weather and the holiday season are in full swing. I absolutely love it. Love Christmas, brilliant holiday. Well, sometimes, when aliens are attacking Earth or something like that. Always seem to like to attack it on Christmas, not sure why.

You know what the City needs though?

A FORMAL, WINTER BALL!

That's right! Formal wear, live music, catered food, holiday atmosphere. Reinette and I will be hosting one in the TARDIS and you're all invited. Wellll, not everyone in the City, not quite big enough for that, but if you can see this you're invited. It's on December 22nd, starting at 8:00 pm.

Ladies, want and excuse to dress up and make your mate do the same? This is it. Men, looking to win a few points with the misses as the holidays wind down? Here's your chance.

So, important things... who knows a good live band and a good caterer?

[ooc: The Doctor and Reinette are going to have a formal ball in the TARDIS on the 22nd. All characters who aren't blatantly evil are invited. More details leading up to the event but either reply here to RSVP or feel free to assume you've contact him about coming. We'd love for as many people as possible to come/assume they came.]

Ohhhh, look at all the new people here! Hello, people!

Brilliant place this, isn't it? Highly recommend you ride the carousel, nothing quite like it really. Welll, riding another carousel is somewhat like it. Wellll, pretty much any carousel is like another. Still, highly recommend it.

[ooc: Being familiar with him is okay, just don't mention he's on the telly, please?]
